Geography and Climate of BuxarGeographically Buxar is located at 25.56049°N and 83.98054°E. Buxar covers an area of 1,620 km2 and is elevated at 55 m above seas level. The holy river Ganga form its northern border and on the other side of the river lies the state of UttarPradesh. The western border of the city is formed by the river Karmanasa. The area is largely low lying alluvial plain of river Ganges and her tributaries- Thora and Karmanasa. The region is known for the large production of Wheat. The climate of the region is moderate type. Summers starts from mid-march to mid-June. Followed by monsoons which lasts till end of September. The winters starts in November and end till march. Chausa Hoard ch place which got its name from chausa Mangoes. Sher Shah defeated Mughal Emperor, Humayun at this very place. The place also got importance as first known bronze hoard was discovered here in the Gangetic valley. Katkauli Ka Maidan is another famous tourist spot in Buxar. The famous battle of Buxar in 1764 was fought here. At this very place Britishers defeated Mir Qasim (Nawab of Bengal), Shah Alam II (Mughal Emperor) and Shuja-ud-Daulah (Nawab of Awadh).
